New directions
As part of my ongoing journey with my blog I have decided to branch out and include further topics, as well as book reviews. After becoming ill with post viral fatigue at the end of 2021 I realised that something had to give, I was burnt out, I had no energy. I couldn't work, enjoy time with friends and family or even read for a while! It really made me re-evaluate my life and how I was looking after myself. Due to this I decided that I wanted to focus more on my own self care in order to make myself well again. It has been a long process but I am slowly improving in my own health and I owe a lot of that to my self care journey.
Self Care
I have been on quite a journey during 2022. I began it with a recovery from a burn out illness that really affected me. I love to relax but enforced relaxation is no fun, especially when your energy levels are so low that you can't even concentrate on a book for any length of time. My blog took a hit, my social life was non existent, my mental health took a nosedive and overall I felt overwhelmed, like I had lost my sparkle. So I decided something had to be done about it. Once I began to regain som energy I slowly built up my physical movement so that I could manage basic activities, I slowly built that up to walking longer distances and trying to improve my physical health as well as my mental health. I discovered a fabulous self care podcast which gave me so many great ideas of practices I could try and things I could do to improve my wellbeing. It has been a very long process but now, 10 months later, I am beginning to feel a little more like myself. I wanted to share this journey with you all on my blog, to discuss different practices I have taken up and to find out what others have been doing for their own self care. This is an ongoing journey, one that I will embed in my day to day life and I hope you will enjoy travelling with me!
