Happy Tuesday one and all! So to continue with my Tuesday theme post I have another book to tempt you with today.
Today's memes are First Chapter/Intros, hosted by Yvonne @ Socrates Book Reviews. Each week readers post the first paragraph of a book they are reading or that they plan to read soon.
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, which is hosted by Ambrosia at The Purple Booker. Here we share two random lines from a book to entice.....
This week I am reading:
Devil Darling Spy by Matt Killeen.
This is the sequel to Orphan, Monster spy which I read Last year, you can find the review of that one here.
It is my February book club pick, I absolutely loved the first one so I am hoping this one is just as good! So on to the teasers.....
First paragraph:
THE SIREN SEEMED MUFFLED. It was absorbed by the seemingly endless hills of mud, or it fled into the big grey sky and was gone. Either way it didn’t seem particularly auspicious. It couldnt even startle the few disinterested seagulls that continued to squat on the grey metal tube, as if it was really just a drainpipe left lying on the side of a hill. They failed to notice the cables and wires that straggled the more along its length, or the branches and offshoots of pipe work welded into the main cylinder at regular intervals.
Teaser:
“When they get the whip out, I stop. That’s always done the trick.” Clementine sighed theatrically.
“Think I havent lived in poverty? I’ve slept with cockroaches and eaten potato peelings and made bread out of sawdust, so get off your high horse.”
Well I hope these teasers have whet your appetite for this book. The first paragraph is written with almost lyrical detail but it is describing a potentially sinister scene. I’m certainly intrigued as to where it will go. Especially after the first book. If you want even more of a reason to read it go check out the review for the first one! If you haven’t read that one I highly recommend it.
What are you reading? Can you tempt me with a few teasers? I wou”d love to hear from you in the comments.
Happy Tuesday everyone.
