This week has been absolutely lovely, the weather is glorious at the moment and there has been a lot of outdoor fun. It was the last week of term so that is always tiring but we made the most of the weather with some outdoor learning and our last woodland adventure was great fun, making hedgehog houses and mud hedgehogs. At the weekend we went to Harewood House for my mother in laws birthday. It is a stunning place, you can read all about it in my review here.

Sunday was lovely too, we did a 2k fun run in our local area to raise funds for the scout association, it was great fun. My fitness has been slowly improving but i still couldn't keep up with my son, he and the hubby left me for dust on the first leg! They ran the race in 13 minutes and I followed slowly behind at 16minutes. It makes me a little cross that I struggle running so much now, I did a 10K when I was 10 weeks pregnant!! But I have to accept my limitations as they are and just continue to slowly improve my fitness levels. Maybe one day I'll be at that level again. We then watched R play some football matches, he has a lot to learn but he is trying so hard and he won man of the match which was such a boost to his confidence!

I had a great session at choir on Wednesday, we have begun practicing our songs to sing at the BB With Love concert in October. You can find out all about that here.

Friday is my day off and I have allocated this as my self care day, todays self care was a super long walk, I decided to explore a different route around my local area, it was absolutely beautiful. So many new fields, birds singing in the bushes, dog walkers to say hello to and the views.... the pictures below don't do it justice! I then partook in shopping for some new sunglasses, followed by a salad and blondie from costa with the most yummy caramel frappe.

I met some friends for an evening of fun and painting ceramics. We visited Fired Arts in Sheffield which is just a lovely place, if you are local I highly recommend a visit. I painted a gecko, my friends painted a mermaid ring holder and decorative name plates. We ate pizza, chatted and painted. It was extremely therapeutic!

We finished off the week with a fabulous 10k walk around Ladybower reservoir. It was so serene and beautiful. We walked for three hours and then stopped for tea and a drink in the sun in Chatsworth. R found some children to play with and had a great time running around the little wood area surrounding the beer garden!

This week has been a slow week in the reading department. I have only read one book - Ghosts by Dolly Alderton. It was a sweet story about being single in your thirties. The main protagonist was finding her way, searching for love and not succeeding too well. The one thing that drove me insane about it was that she just accepted what Max did, she didn't go and find him just accepted he wasn't there which I found really frustrating. But other than that irritation it was a generally good book.

We finished the Night Agent, last night. It is extremely cheesy but makes for entertaining watching. I just finished watching Wellmania which was great, I really enjoyed it. It was fun and frivolous, I laughed a lot! I have also begun watching XO Kitty, I haven't seen the prelude (all the boys I've loved before) but I am really enjoying this series. Ever since the days of Dawson Creek I have had a real soft spot for all things high school and teenage angst with a large vocabulary. This one fits the bill perfectly, it is cute, the main character is adorable and there is an intriguing mystery surrounding her mom, principal and professor. I recommend giving it a go if you want something light and breezy.

This week I listened to a great episode of Podcrushed, a podcast hosted by Penn Badgley and two of his friends who used to be middle school teachers. The episode was an interview with Jameela Jamil, who I absolutely love, so I had to listen to this one. She is so eloquent and humorous and she has had been through so much trauma in her life yet she still tries to share a phenomenally important message about body image and mental health. She is an advocate for body neutrality and exercising for fun and she has so much to say on the topic. I think she is extremely strong and current, she is clever and has a powerful voice. I loved to listen to her discussing some really difficult topics. **Disclaimer - if you listen to this episode there are a number of trigger warnings, they are mentioned by Penn at the beginning of the episode so worth thinking about if this could affect you.

What have you been doing this week? Let me know in the comments!

It's definitely important to take self care days! I have to remind my family on our Branson trip that sometimes my self care on this vacation is just sitting and reading and I don't have to socialize 24/7. Lots of pretty pictures! I've enjoyed doing the painting ceramics before, haven't done it in a while, should go do that again sometimes. Hope you have a good week!
