Weekly catch Up from Bexbooksandstuff

Updated: Aug 12, 2023

Hello and welcome to my latest catch up post. I did miss one last week due to it being half term and crazy busy, I spent all my time out with the family and eating BBQs to write a post! We visited so many beautiful places in Derbyshire over the half term so I will create a separate post about that at a later date as I have a great amount of places to recommend!

It has been a lovely few weeks in the world of Bexbooksandstuff, half term week passed by so quickly. We visited a number of lovely places and had a fantastically active week. We completed a 10K walk around Ladybower reservoir, a 15mile bike ride down the monsal trail, a visit to a national trust property (Hardwick Hall), another walk across the Cheedale stepping stones and a 4 hour walk around our local area (we may have got a little lost) R and his little legs did amazingly well throughout all of these activities!

The sun came out at the end of the week so we managed to fit in some BBQs and time with friends in the sun which was just delightful! Back to work has been lovely too, it is always nice to see the kids after a half term break and find out what they have been up to.

This weekend we came to visit my parents and they treated us to a show! Yesterday we went to see 'Jurassic World: Live' the stage show. It was such a great performance, extremely well thought out and brilliant for children. R absolutely loved it and he was completely engaged throughout the whole 90minutes. Today will be spent with family visiting a local parish festival which promises live entertainment, stalls, childrens entertainment and much more. That will be lovely to visit before we head back up North for home.

I posted about my May reading wrap up last week. It was a great month of reading I managed 9 books! That is quite a number for me so I was very proud. I read The Silver Ladies Do Lunch by Judy Leigh and reviewed that for a blog tour with Rachels Random Resources. I also read A tidy ending by Joanna Cannon. That was a fantastic book, review to follow soon.

This week I finished watching YOU season 4 on Netflix. Oh wow, that was some twist!! I need to find someone else who has watched it because I need to talk about it!!! If you haven't seen the series yet I highly recommend it. We have also started watching Furbar also on Netflix. I love a bit of Arnie and he does not disappoint in this comedy action series about the CIA. We are only 2 episodes in so far but I can tell it is going to be a winner!

I haven't listened to any new podcasts this week, I have just continued with my usual ones. I'm not sure if i have mentioned The Perfect 10 podcast by Carol Vorderman before, but if you like testing your brain she has a 10 minute daily podcast where she gives you 10 questions to answer. I love to listen on my morning commute as I feel like it really gets my brain working before I start work! Let me know if you get a perfect 10!

What have you been doing this week? Let me know in the comments!

It sounds like a nice few weeks! Lots of nice time outside to relax and get some exercise! The Jurassic World Live show sounds like fun. Hope you have a good week!
