So today is World Book day! A day where everyone is encouraged to celebrate the world of bookishness. A day when all book lovers are able to share their enthusiasm for literature and talk about books unabashedly. The happiest day for any bookworm!
Parents across the land have been panicking all week about what to dress their children up as for the day. I personally cannot wait until R is at school and the world book day fun begins. As a teacher I have had lots of fun dressing up. I am a huge fan of fancy dress in general and have had many a shindig over the years which included fancy dress with my friends. So World Book Day is another fabulous excuse to get the outfits ready! Dressing up is fun, but getting to dress as a character from a book is next level fun!
Me and the Y1 team enjoying World book day a few years ago - still my favourite costume! I was especially proud of my homemade bow.
What are you reading?
So what books will you be reading on this day of bookish celebration? I am currently reading Act your age Eve Brown by Talia Hibbert. I've been looking forward to it for ages and it's not disappointing so far! We will also no doubt be reading a plethora of children's books throughout the day as this will be the perfect chance to reinforce our love of books at home.

I can't resist sharing some fabulous new books with you all. If you can't make people jealous with new book purchases on world book day when can you?
This week a few more books have landed on my kindle ❤
The Switch by Beth O'Leary
Eileen is sick of being 79. Leena's tired of life in her twenties. Maybe it's time they swapped places...
This is the second book from author Beth O'Leary. I absolutely loved The Flatshare (click to visit my review) so I am equally excited to read the next one. It sounds great.
Mr Right across the street by Kathleen Freeman
Because sometimes you just need a rom com in your life! This looks like a cute story perfect for a spring evening when you want a bit of escapism.
What's a girl gotta do by Holly Bourne
HOW TO START A FEMINIST REVOLUTION:
1. Call out anything that is unfair on one gender
2. Don't call out the same thing twice (so you can sleep and breathe)
3. Always try to keep it funny
4. Don't let anything slide. Even when you start to break...
Lottie's determined to change the world with her # Vagilante vlog. Shame the trolls have other ideas...
I enjoyed the other stories in the "Spinster Club" series so looking forward to this one too 😀
How do you celebrate world book day? Are you a curl up for the day under a blanket and lose yourself in a book kind of person? Or do you share your love of books and talk about stories with your nearest and dearest? I would love to hear about how you celebrate the day. Please let me know in the comments.
Happy World Book Day everyone. I hope you have a booktastic time!!
Lovely post! I used to love world book day in school and the thrill of dressing up as my fave character. I really want to read the switch xx
